Welcome to TaskNote – a secure, minimalist app for taking notes, organizing ideas, and staying productive – all while protecting your privacy.
We designed TaskNote to be intuitive and distraction-free, so you can focus on what matters most. While many features reveal themselves as you use the app, this guide will help you get started and make the most of it.
To sync your notes securely across devices, TaskNote requires an account. Your personal encryption key is generated during first use and stored only on your device. This ensures that only you can read your notes.
Important
Your encryption key is stored only on your device and never sent to our servers. If you lose this key, your notes cannot be decrypted – even if you still have access to your account from another device. We cannot recover lost keys or encrypted data.
Open the TaskNote app and sign in using your Google account.
You’ll then be prompted to generate or upload an encryption key.
You have two options:
Each key only works with the notes encrypted using that specific key. If you create a new key, it won’t open old notes.
All notes are stored encrypted on our servers – only your key can decrypt them.
Click the Orange button in the bottom-right corner of the app. A new note will appear at the top of your list. Add a title and start writing.
Click on any note to open and edit it. Changes are saved automatically.
TaskNote provides several ways to organize your notes:
Use the search bar at the top to find notes by title or content. Results update in real time as you type.
Type /
in the search bar to access advanced commands:
/download all notes
– Export all notes as Markdown files/logout
– Sign out of your account/encryption
– View your encryption statusSwitch to the Tasks tab and click Add Task to create a new task. Tasks are stored alongside your notes.
Add a date and time to any task to turn it into a reminder. TaskNote will notify you when it's due.
All notes and tasks are encrypted locally before being stored on our servers. Even TaskNote admins can’t access your content.
Your data is yours. You can export all your notes at any time using the /download all notes
command. In this case, your notes will be saved in the Markdown format.
