Is TaskNote for Windows free?
Yes. The Windows app is free to download and use, with generous limits on notes, folders, tasks, boards, and reminders. A one-time $49 Lifetime upgrade removes all limits.
Is the Windows app the same as the TaskNote web app?
No. TaskNote for Windows is a separate, local-first app. It stores everything in a database on your PC, works fully offline, and does not sync with the web app, your phone, or any other device.
Does Windows show a warning when I install it?
Yes, SmartScreen may show an "unrecognized app" warning because the installer isn't yet signed with a paid certificate. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to continue - the installer is safe.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Everything is stored locally on your PC, so the app works fully offline. An internet connection is only needed to activate a Lifetime license key.
How do I update the app?
TaskNote checks for new versions automatically and lets you know in-app when an update is ready to install.
